Local Area
Situated to the east of the main chain of islands in the Caribbean, Barbados is one of those tropical idylls that lures visitors back time and time again. It’s a great place to head for a few weeks’ R&R, lounging on white-sand beaches, soaking up beautiful botanical gardens and discovering the history and heritage of the island's past connections with Britain.
Base yourself on the northwest of the island and you’ll have easy access to rum tasting tours at Mount Gay Distillery as well as a taste of local life in colourful Speightstown, which lies no more than 10 minutes’ drive from the hotel. Head inland, and you’ll find subterranean adventures at Harrison’s Cave as well as former sugar cane plantations and hilltop signal towers. The historic capital of Barbados, Bridgetown, is 40 minutes’ drive to the south, and a transfer from the airport will take around 50 minutes.
