Holiday location

Local Area

Fringed by more than 150kms of pure white sand, and sublime Indian Ocean blues, Mauritius is one of those locations that people in the know always rave about.

As far as tropical islands go, it’s up there with the best of them. This is where you’ll discover lush green volcanic slopes inland and rose-pink coral offshore. It’s somewhere to seek out seclusion and tread on deserted beaches as the sun rises in the early morning.

The southeast coast, especially, is extremely tranquil. This is where you’ll find the best of the coral gardens, kept happy and healthy within Blue Bay Marine Park. Snorkelling here is divine, as is the opportunity to book into a luxury beach resort on Le Chaland Beach.

You can take daily yoga, meditation, and Tai Chi classes on the sand or opt for an excursion to one of the local tea plantations, rum distilleries, or protected nature reserves. Just along the coast, the seaside town of Mahebourg boasts a rich naval history as well as a wonderful waterfront area, perfect for promenading.

It’s the combination of easy-going beach holiday and luxury resort indulgence that makes Mauritius such a good catch. You can basically enjoy the best of both worlds as well as dabbling your toes into something new along the way. What’s not to like?
