Holidays to Mauritius

Pure paradise in the Indian Ocean

Mauritius is the stuff of dreams – a true castaway isle in the southern Indian Ocean. Here, the beaches are snow-white and silky soft, shaded by sloping palm trees and lapped by impossibly clear blue waves. If you’re in the market for R&R, this is the place for you.

Bel Ombre

Situated on the south coast of Mauritius, the village of Bel Ombre is nestled between some of the island’s most pristine beaches and serene snorkelling spots. It’s somewhere to book into a five-star spa resort with a private stretch of sand or take time out on the lush green fairways of an award-winning 18-hole golf course. Explore slightly inland and you’ll find a great choice of outdoor activities and undulating trails within Bel Ombre Nature Reserve, as well as spectacular Indian Ocean views.

Grand Baie

If you’re looking for one of the most popular places to stay in Mauritius, Grand Baie (Grand Bay) is up there with the best of them. This north coast town has been welcoming visitors for more than 50 years and provides the perfect balance between enchanting Indian Ocean scenery, excellent accommodation options and a whole host of shopping districts and beachside restaurants. From sheltered lagoons and sensational sunrises to lively late-night bars and clubs, it’s easy to see why Grand Baie’s the place to be.

Port Louis

Residents of Mauritius are a blend of European, Indian, Chinese, and African descent, so colonial plantation houses make way for Hindu temples which make way for Creole restaurants. You’ll see this melting pot of cultures most clearly in Port Louis, Mauritius’ capital, and the island’s vibrant heart. Get to know the locals here, along with 18th-century architecture and a smart waterfront.

Reunion Island

Just a 30-minute plane ride, but a world away from the pace of Mauritius is Reunion island – a French territory sitting in the Indian Ocean. The official language here is French, the currency is the Euro, and with its volcanoes, towering mountains, lush rainforest, and spectacular waterfalls you will soon realise that the island is France’s best-kept secret. Take a twin-centre tour of both Mauritius and Reunion and you can compare and contrast both the landscapes and the cultural nuances.
