Local Area
The rural village of Mas is situated around six kilometres south of Ubud, in central Bali surrounded by rice terraces, forest trails and jungle-shrouded waterfalls. It’s somewhere to escape the busy tourist beaches down south and the densely populated streets of Denpasar, the capital.
Ngurah Rai International Airport located around 40 kilometres south of Ubud. The journey usually takes just over an hour and is a chance to see the built-up urban outskirts of Bali’s capital morph into the more rural uplands.
If you’re lucky enough to be staying at a health and wellbeing retreat in Mas village, be sure to get out and explore in the surrounding area. Ubud, itself, is alive with local handicraft workshops and boutique art galleries as well as numerous yoga retreats and meditation centres. Explore a little further afield and you’ll also discover expansive cocoa and coffee plantations as well as sacred Hindu sites, such as Besakih Great Temple.
