Nexus Resort and Spa Karambunai
Luxury beachfront spa resort situated next to Borneo’s premier golf course.
Set against a backdrop of botanical gardens and beautiful beaches, Nexus Resort and Spa Karambunai has all you need for a luxurious tropical getaway. This is where you get to kick off your shoes and walk barefoot on white sand as the sun sinks into the South China Sea.
Thanks to the proximity to Borneo’s top 18-hole golf course, you’ll find every excuse to spoil a good walk with some super smooth fairways just a one wood’s swing away. Come for the golf, stay for the Seoul Fairway Grill and cocktail lounge – why not, you’re on holiday!
After enjoying (hopefully) a round of golf you’ll find numerous other activities on offer to help you make the most of your day. From yoga classes and fishing trips to bike hire and SUP boards – if you’re looking to keep active as the sun shines, this is the place for you.
Once you’ve worked up an appetite, the Nexus Resort and spa Karambunai has an excellent choice of restaurants and lounge bars. There’s also the option to have exclusive access to the VIP Club Lounge. Daily cocktails at sunset are almost worth the admission alone.
Finally, if you’re really looking to rest and relax, check into the Borneo Spa and you won’t be disappointed. Fully equipped with an outdoor massage hut, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi – there’s no better place to be gently pampered into sublime submission.

Local Area
Situated on the northern tip of Borneo, the Malaysian state of Sabah looks out over the Sulu Sea to the Philippines and the South China Sea to Vietnam. It’s a tropical destination, packed full of exciting adventures both above and below the ocean waves.
Explore along the northwest coast and you’ll discover the beautiful beaches and coral reefs of Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park. This is where the white sands and snorkelling spots of Gaya Island can be found just a few minutes from Kota Kinabalu – the capital.
Head slightly inland from the west coast and it’s the indomitable form of Mount Kinabalu that steals the show. This 4,095 metre-high mountain has been calling to adventurers since records began. It’s an achievable conquest for experienced, and fit, hikers, with overnight camps, close to the summit, the best way to enjoy sunrise before heading back down.
If you’re intent on searching for the wild man of Borneo, look no further than Sepilok Nature Reserve close to Sandakan on Sabah’s northeast coast. This rehabilitation sanctuary for orphaned and injured orangutans has been rescuing animals since the mid-sixties. You can see orangutans close up as well as learning more about Malaysia’s infamous history of logging, hunting and deforestation due to palm oil plantations. (To be explored independently).
