The island of Borneo sits to the south of the South China Sea just to the east of mainland Malaysia. It’s the largest island in Asia and split between the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak in the north, and the Indonesian province of Kalimantan in the south. Borneo also includes the independent sovereign state of Brunei that’s sandwiched between the Malaysian states in the north of the island.
