Nepal & Bhutan Highlights
Independent Tours
Incense, prayer flags, and holy monkeys – don’t forget your walking shoes. This is your opportunity to unlock the kingdoms of the Himalayas as you journey through the highlights of Nepal and Bhutan in the company of English-speaking local guides. Kicking off with a couple of nights in Kathmandu, you’ll experience the delights of Durbar Square as well as the holy monkeys at Swayambhunath and the prayer flags adorning Boudhanath Stupa. Moving on from the capital, you’ll travel to the lakeside town of Pokhara before heading south to Chitwan National Park, close to the Indian border. After keeping your eyes peeled for elephants, tigers and sloth bears, you’ll return to Kathmandu in time to take a short flight to Bhutan. This part of the tour includes all meals as well as guided tours around the dzongs (fortified monasteries), mountains and cultural highlights of Punakha, Thimphu and Paro. There’ll also be a hike to Taktsang Monastery – aka: Tiger’s Nest – so remember sensible shoes as well as your camera. From Buddhist enlightenment and incense shrouded temples to the spectacular scenery in and around the Annapurna Mountains, this 13-day Nepal and Bhutan highlights tour is an experience you’ll find yourself recounting again and again.
