Local Area
The island nation of the Bahamas is situated to the east of the Gulf of Mexico and Miami. It’s made up of small coral cays and white-sand islands as well as 30 larger inhabited islands. One of these larger islands, New Providence, is a well-known cruise ship destination. Passengers tend to head into the capital, Nassau, for shopping or to Junkaboo Beach, which is under a mile from Prince George Wharf.
If you’re entering the Bahamas by plane, you’ll be landing at Lynden Pindling International Airport. This places you just a 20-minute drive from downtown Nassau and Margaritaville Beach Resort. The majority of the island’s beach resorts, including those on Paradise Island, are located across The Sir Sidney Poitier Bridge, about an hour from the airport.
