The island nation of the Bahamas features around 700 coral cays and larger islands, only 30 of which are inhabited. The main island, New Providence, also includes the capital city, Nassau, as well as Lynden Pindling International Airport – just an hour’s flight from Miami.
Many of the beachside resorts and all-inclusive options in the Bahamas are slightly bigger and bolder than the more traditional and quieter resorts in other areas of the Caribbean. Paradise Island, that’s linked to New Providence by way of The Sir Sidney Poitier Bridge, is a prime example. This is where you’ll find high-rise hotels, marinas and waterparks as well as the white sands of Cabbage Beach, Arawak Beach and Smugglers Beach. It’s an easy place to get around on foot or by borrowing a bike and pedalling off on one of the sand dusted tracks.
