Hotel Calabash
Award-winning luxury boutique hotel on a secluded white sand beach.
Calabash is one of the most luxurious boutique hotels in the Caribbean. A member of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux hotel collection, it promises five-star style and service, all in an idyllic setting on the southern tip of Grenada.
The hotel’s most recent 35 year history is almost as romantic as the location with ‘an aura of infectious happiness’ allowing the owners, Leo & Lilian, to watch their family grow alongside the property’s reputation. This is still very much a family-run affair exuding all the warmth and hospitality that you’d expect when being welcomed into someone’s home.
Every inch of Calabash has been designed with relaxation in mind. There are gorgeous tropical gardens which lead down to a secluded white sandy beach. A sleek infinity pool, and a spa and wellbeing area – including a yoga pavilion tucked among the greenery.
The fine dining restaurant was created by celebrity chef Gary Rhodes as well as a casual Beach Club with stunning sea views. Fresh ingredients and locally sourced produce are always on the menu with the emphasis on elegance and ambience ensuring every mealtime is an experience to be savoured.
If you’re looking to work up an appetite, you’ll find a 24-hr gym, two tennis courts and complimentary watersports equipment including kayaks, SUP boards and snorkels.

Local Area
If you’re entering Grenada via Maurice Bishop International Airport, you’ll find yourself close to the beautiful beaches of the south coast, including Magazine, Grand Anse and Morne Rouge. This is also where the island’s capital, St George’s, is situated. It’s an ideal option for day trips with the Saturday market on Market Square the perfect place to sample a taste of local life.
Head north, and inland, and the terrain switches from the twinkling marina to undulating fertile slopes. Grenada has become known as the Caribbean’s Spice Island. Nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, and pepper are all grown here as well as vanilla, ginger, coconuts and fields of cocoa. As you can imagine, some of the meat and seafood stews and traditional rice dishes, such as pelau (like a spicy paella), are absolutely delicious.
As the island is only 34 kilometres north to south and 19 kilometres across, it’s easy enough to get around in a day. For example, the tallest point, Mount Saint Catherine, is just under an hour’s drive from St. Georges. And if you’re looking to channel your inner Indiana Jones, the walking trails and waterfalls of Grand Etand National Park are just 20 minutes from the capital.
