Local Area
Jamaica sits pretty much in the centre of the Caribbean Sea, around 300 kilometres south of Cuba. It’s an island that’s become synonymous with white-sand beaches, smoky jerk spice, and reggae music. No trip is complete without hearing the strains of Bob Marley while tucking into a delicious bowl of ackee and saltfish.
Thanks to the tropical location, you’ll also find several all-inclusive luxury resorts lined up along the coral fringed beaches. Montego Bay, in the north-west, is especially blessed with exclusive accommodation options. This is the island’s second-largest town – behind the south coast capital of Kingston – and it has its own international airport (just four-and-a-half miles from the Zoetry Montego Bay) as well as duty-free shopping and the boisterous nightlife of Gloucester Avenue, aka the ‘Hip Strip’.
Delve a little deeper into Jamaica’s rainforest covered interior and there’s a world of walking trails, hidden waterfalls, and scenic lookout points to be discovered. Alternatively, head to the west coast and the seaside town of Negril conjures up mile-upon-mile of white sand as well as some of the best spots for snorkelling in the whole of Jamaica.
