Saga Hosted Hotels

An old Saga customer favourite, Hotel Astarea has recently reopened following a major refurbishment, so everything feels fresh and modern. Revamped interiors aside, the biggest draw here is the setting. The property is backed by pine-cloaked peaks, edged by cypress trees, and fronted by a pebble beach and the glittering Adriatic Sea. There’s a large sunny terrace to help you make the most of the views, with a bar for drinks and snacks. Elsewhere, you’ll find an outdoor pool for leisurely dips, a spa with an indoor pool, steam bath, and state-of-the-art gym, and a choice of restaurants. You’re in a great spot for exploring, too – Dubrovnik is just a 10-minute drive away.

Holiday location

Astarea Hotel Map

Local Area

The hotel has a best-of-both-worlds location in Mlini – a small, sleepy fishing village on the outskirts of Dubrovnik. Known as ‘the Pearl of the Adriatic’, Croatia’s famous terracotta-roofed city is a maze of cobbled alleyways and courtyards, Baroque churches, atmospheric restaurants, and shops selling Croatian lace and olive oils. Nearby Cavtat is also worth a visit, thanks to a clutch of art galleries and a picturesque harbour. Prefer to stay put? The shops and restaurants along Mlini’s seafront promenade are just a five-minute stroll from the Astarea.

If you’re looking for a relaxing beach holiday, the recently renovated Hotel Astarea is perfect. Its location in Mlini, a small town near Dubrovnik, means you’ll have the crystal-clear Adriatic Sea and bars and restaurants on your doorstep.

Montenegro

Travel into neighbouring Montenegro to see just some of thecountry's highlights. Feast your eyes on the spectacular fjords before a stop in historic Kotor, one of the best preserved medieval towns in the Adriatic, with its UNESCO-protected old town. Its architecture, including the city walls, is heavily influenced by past Venetian occupiers and its location beneath the Orjen and Lovcen mountains is both picturesque and dramatic. Also visit historic Budva, one of the oldest settlements in the Balkans, where you enjoy an included snack. The Old Town lies on a little island that was linked to the land by a sandbar and in time turned into a peninsula. Ramparts that originate from the 15th century surround it and they include a medieval fortification system with city gates, defence walls and towers. Inside the walls the town is a combination of narrow streets and little squares with historic monuments.
