Local Area
A 10-minute walk will bring you into Hersonissos. It’s a lively town, with plenty in the way of cafes, bars and restaurants in the centre and along the waterfront. There’s a small beach right in front of the hotel, but you’ll find a handful of others in the resort if you fancy a change of scenery. Day trip options may include the Isle of Spinalongaand the more traditional villages in the hills behind Hersonissos (subject to minimum numbers). Island capital Heraklion is lovely, too, with a vibrant old town, colourful markets and a pleasant harbour with ancient fortifications.

Knossos palace and Heraklion city tour
Situated overlooking the Sea of Crete on the island's north coast, the port city of Heraklion has long been revered for its extensive archeological sites and collections of ancient Minoan artwork. This optional excursion allows you to unearth the treasures of Europe's original civilization as well as some of the best souvlaki this side of the Aegean. Take your time to soak up the sights and sounds of the Cretan capital in between visiting the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, the Historical Museum of Crete and the magnificent Minoan Palace of Knossos.
