Out and about
The Dolomite mountains, covered in snow during the winter, and with green meadows and forests in the summer, provide a dramatic backdrop to every nearby town and village. This is a beautiful region of peaceful villages and plenty of walking opportunities. Further afield, perhaps visit the walled city of Feltre, 20 miles away, or take public transport to the historic city of Trento, 60 miles away.
Trento
This charming city, around 60 miles away, has a dramatic setting beside the Adige River, at the foot of the Dolomites. Its main attractions include the 13th-century Buonconsiglio Castle, Trento Cathedral on Piazza Duomo and the two 16th-century houses of Case Cazuffi-Rella, decorated with Renaissance frescoes.
Feltre

Tour of Dolomites
1 / 3
This panoramic tour ventures into the dramatic scenery of the Dolomites, formed millions of years ago from mineralised sea coral. There will be plenty of photo opportunities as the route ascends to the Cereda and Fedaia passes, overlooking deep blue lakes, and up to the Marmolada, the highest mountain and the only major glacier-bearing massif in northeastern Italy’s Dolomites. There will be a short stop, during which you can purchase a typical mountain-style snack and enjoy free time for a walk. In the afternoon, return to San martino di Castrozza and Fiera di Primiero via Canazei, Moena and the Rolle Pass.
Bassano del Grappa & Marostica
1 / 3
The medieval, fortified town of Bassano is known for the production of ‘grappa’, distilled from wine or spirits and traditionally served at the end of dinner. This beautiful, historic town is set on the Brenta River and features a photogenic 16th-century bridge, designed by the famous Renaissance architect Palladio. After free time to purchase lunch, drive to the medieval, walled village of Marostica where you will have more free time to explore the town square.
Paneveggio/Pale Nature Park
1 / 3
Drive to the Pale Nature Park where the main hub and primary Visitor Centre is the Villa Welsperg, which was built in 1853 and houses a library and exhibition of the whole park. Enjoy a gentle walk through the meadow and spruce forest with a local, Alpine guide to see some of the flora and fauna.
