Explore the Grand Harbour area just across from Valletta, renowned as the Three Cities – Vittoriosa, Cospicua, and Senglea, where the Knights of St. John established their presence in 1530. Drive past Cospicua and Senglea before reaching Vittoriosa, embarking on a leisurely stroll through the narrow streets shaded by historic buildings, including the initial auberges of the various langues of the Order. This optional half day excursion is a great opportunity to make the most of Malta on a charming mode of transport, a traditional Maltese bus. Starting with one of the island’s few woodland areas, Buskett Woods, we’ll travel across the country en route to the dramatic Dingli Cliffs. This is where we can enjoy some sensational views across the Mediterranean Sea and take some photos of the local lighthouse. From here, we’ll head north along the coast to the isolated village of Mgarr that sits surrounded by sea, farmland, and sun-drenched vineyards. It’s the perfect place to pause for a coffee or soft drink (not included) before reboarding the bus and heading back to the hotel.
