Unspoilt Agaete’s whitewashed buildings cling to a volcanic rock hillside, which gives way to lush green interiors and deep ravines. You can follow a peaceful, rugged trail into the port, Puerto Las Nieves, just over a mile away, which is reached via a steep path that leads you down to the seafront. The nearest bus stop from the hotel is 500 yards away. The drive to/from the airport takes approximately 50 minutes.
Out and about
The pine forests of nearby Tamadaba Natural Park are just a 30-minute drive away, and well worth exploring, as is the neighbouring town of Teror, a 45-minute drive away.

Teror’s colonial buildings, leafy parks and sunny plaza – complete with traditional Basilica – provide a great snapshot of the area’s culture and history.

Today we’ll leave the hotel and drive inland through the mountainous landscapes and laurel forests in the north of the island. We’re heading to the historic town of Arucas, famed for its dominating Church of San Juan Bautista and quiet pedestrianised streets and picturesque gardens. Here we’ll enjoy free time for a coffee and a stroll before we set off in search of one of Gran Canaria’s main fruit producers, Finca la Rekompensa. This plantation is where we’ll discover the delights of growing bananas, avocados and other tropical treats as well as having a chance to taste the delicious produce. With a few fruity souvenirs stashed in our bags, we’ll return to the hotel for a leisurely afternoon.
Teror & Firgas

Today we’ll take a trip to the north of Gran Canaria, as we go in search of two of the island’s prettiest villages. Starting with the historic town of Teror, we’ll walk the cobbled streets of the Old Town and keep an eye out for the traditional overhanging balconies. We’ll also visit Our Lady of the Pines Basilica and pay our respects to the island’s patron saint. After enjoying some free time to explore, we’ll continue our travels to the charming village of Firgas. Famed for its whitewashed walls and free-flowing staircase waterfall, this is the perfect place to enjoy a Canary Island coffee and cake (not included) before we return to the hotel for an afternoon siesta.
