Located 1km from the traditional coastal town of Agaete on Gran Canaria's quieter north west coast, the four-star Occidental Roca Negra perches on a spectacular cliff top overlooking the Atlantic. Exclusively for adults, you can swim all year round in the spectacular heated outdoor pool. Maybe enjoy sundowner drinks at the pool bar or take a stroll along the rocky clifftops and follow the rugged trails into Puerto Las Nieves. Local Area
Unspoiled Agaete’s white-washed buildings speckle the landscape against jagged volcanic rock. And here, you’ll discover dramatic landscapes, with plush green interiors and deep ravines as part of the picture, too. The pine forests of nearby Tamadaba Natural Park are well worth exploring, while neighbouring mountain town Teror is a great place to experience local culture and history. The streets are lined colonial-style buildings decorated with flowers and is known for its Basilica, parks and a plaza.
Included excursions
Beach and cliff of Juncal (approximately 6 km)
This circular walk from the hotel starts on Playa de la Caleta, then crosses a small ravine to begin our ascent into the foothills of Moriscas Mountain. As we get higher, we’ll stop to admire the spectacular cliffs and ravines - some peppered with prehistoric cave dwellings and temples - before we arrive at Roque viewpoint for 360o views. From here we follow a horseshoe shaped trail down to Joncal beach where (conditions allowing) there’s time for a swim. Afterwards, we’ll take a winding path back through the countryside, observing rural Canarian life and traditions along the way, before tracing the lip of the ravine back to our starting point on the beach.
