We’ll see how the other half live today as we enjoy a guided tour around one of Europe’s most exclusive resorts, Marbella. Sandwiched between the Sierra Blanca mountains and the Costa del Sol, this is where the international jet set come out to play after they’ve safely anchored their luxury yacht within the glitzy confines of Puerto Banús marina. Aside from the high-end bars and designer boutiques, Marbella also features a lovely Old Town area. This is where cobbled streets and traditional Spanish restaurants are situated around the Plaza de los Naranjos. We’ll also visit the hillside village of Mijas. Famous for its whitewashed houses and breathtaking views of the coast, we’ll wander the narrow streets, browse artisan shops, or simply soak in the relaxed atmosphere of this beautiful pueblo.
Gibraltar
1 / 10
Today we’ll really get under the skin of Gibraltar as we learn more about the relationship with Britain and what it means to be part of Spain’s Iberian Peninsula. We’ll take the cable car to the summit of the Rock and look out over the Bay of Algeciras and Morocco’s Atlas Mountain from 1,476 feet. We’ll also visit the 8th century Moorish Castle and uncover Gibraltar’s military importance within a network of subterranean siege tunnels. From an intriguing history and stunning scenery to wild monkeys and crispy calentita, strap yourself in for this excellent all-day excursion.
Ronda
1 / 10
Today is dedicated to discovering the historic town of Ronda. The dramatic setting alone is worth the visit with the Moorish Old Town and the 15th century ‘New Town’ situated either side of the El Tajo gorge. Some of Ronda’s early architecture, including the 14th-century Palacio de Mondragon, is very well preserved with flower-filled gardens, sun kissed courtyards and whitewashed walls stretching inland from the clifftop. Must sees include the 18th century bullring, Plaza de Toros, and the Puente Nuevo stone-built bridge that spans the gorge across the Rio Guadalevin, and is still currently in use.
Cordoba
1 / 10
Cordoba is a city brimming with rich history and cultural charm. Its star attraction is the Mezquita, a stunning mosque-turned-cathedral that showcases a blend of Islamic and Christian architectural influences. Wandering through the narrow, winding streets of the historic Jewish Quarter, visitors encounter pretty patios adorned with vibrant flowers. The city's diverse past is evident in landmarks like the Alcazar of the Christian Monarchs and the Roman Bridge. Cordoba's lively atmosphere, friendly locals, and delicious Andalusian cuisine make it a delightful destination for travellers seeking a taste of Spain.
Gibraltar Bus City Tour FD
1 / 10
If you’ve always wanted to visit the famous overseas British territory, Gibraltar, this is your chance. Following the coast road via Marbella, we’ll drive south for 90 minutes against a backdrop of beach resorts and sea views. On arrival, we’ll join a knowledgeable driver/guide onboard a minibus. The guided tour begins with the 426-metre-tall limestone mountain – aka the Rock of Gibraltar. Next, we’ll drive to the southernmost point of the promontory, Punta de Europa, where we can look across the Strait of Gibraltar and possibly catch a glimpse of Morocco – depending on the weather. After soaking up the sea views, we’ll venture underground to see the limestone formations within Cueva de San Miguel (St Michael’s Cave), and maybe a monkey or two. Once the 90-minute tour is over, we’ll have three hours free time before we board the coach and head back to the hotel.
Gibraltar Dolphin Watching
1 / 10
This excursion is a must for animal lovers. Following the coast road to Gibraltar we’ll drive to the harbour and board a boat that’s designed for wildlife watching. We’ll be sailing into the world-famous Strait of Gibraltar where there’s a strong possibility (up to 90% success rate) that we’ll be able to spot marine mammals including dolphins, whales, and even an occasional orca. It’s a really memorable experience and an excellent opportunity to see animals up close in their natural environment. During the 90-minute sailing there will also be a chance to see the Rock of Gibraltar, the Spanish coastline, and North Africa. There will also be onboard commentary from the ship’s captain as well as plenty of time to relax and soak up the sunshine.
Gibraltar Shopping
1 / 10
Today we’ll drive down to Gibraltar for free time and shopping. It’s a great chance to see more of local life and visit a café or two and maybe try some of the local food such as a Torta de acelga (vegetable tart) or a savoury calentita pancake. While you’re here, you can browse the vibrant Main Street for duty-free bargains or pop into one of the English shops – like Marks & Spencer – for any must have items you might have forgotten from home. If you’re looking for a more authentic Andalucian experience, head to the indoor market close to Casemates Square for fresh fish, fruit and vegetables and tempting treats such as Milhojas (creamy puff pastry sandwiches). Or otherwise, just kick back and relax with an ice cream and watch the world wander by.
Caminito del Rey
1 / 10
After getting picked up from the hotel you’ll head inland towards the rugged mountain foothills of southern Spain. Your guide will explain more about the landscapes and local culture along the way before you stop for breakfast (not included) at a local inn. From here you’ll continue to the start of the Caminito del Rey where you’ll meet an accredited walking guide who’ll accompany you on the trail. Putting your best foot forward, you’ll follow the three-kilometre hand-railed path – wooden walkways, hanging bridges, and glass vista points – around the mountainside, high above the steep river valleys. After taking in the exceptional scenery, we’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant in a regional village, like Alora or Ardales. There will be plenty of time for a stroll and a coffee before we reboard the bus and head back to the hotel.
Ronda and Setenil
1 / 10
Our day starts with a 90-minute drive to the stunning setting of Ronda. Along the way we’ll see the Spanish landscape away from the coast as well as some of the area’s authentic towns and villages. On arrival at Ronda, we’ll have free time to explore and discover the famous El Tajo gorge that separates the modern town from the Moorish original. The views from the stone bridge (Puente Nuevo) that spans the gorge are amazing. From here, you’re free to find the iconic Plaza de Toros bullring or stroll around the cobbled streets and plazas of the Old Town. After lunch (not included), we’ll make our way to one of Spain’s most picturesque villages, Setenil de las Bodegas. Here you can walk around the whitewashed houses, built into the cliff face, and climb up to the ruined Castillo de Setenil de las Bodegas for stunning views across the countryside.
Tangier
1 / 10
Set sail from Tarifa on a Fast Ferry for a one-hour crossing to Tangier in Morrocco. Upon arrival, a local guide will take you on a panoramic coach tour, passing sights like the Governor’s Residence, the King's Summer Palace, and the occasional camel. Then, enjoy a walking tour of Tangier’s iconic spots, including the Kasbah, Medina, Souk, and city centre. Afterward, savour a traditional Moroccan meal (drinks not included). If time permits, explore local shops or join your guide for a visit to a Bazaar, where you'll find leather goods, handcrafted items, and learn about carpet-making. You’ll also visit a Berber Pharmacy to discover Moroccan spices and cosmetics. (Please bring your passport for this excursion.)
