Food & Wine

Get an authentic taste of Andalucía on this food and wine-packed holiday in Cadiz. Enjoy plucked-from-the-sea fish, tapas like papas con choco [potato and cuttlefish stew], as well as the finest sherry - you’ll taste them all. Sample seafood delights from coastal towns including Conil and Barbate, devour mouth-watering farm-grown produce in Sierra de Grazalema, and sip local wines in Jerez.

Five included excursions:
Conil del Frontera (half day)
Wine in Jerez de la Frontera (full day)
Tapas trail in Cadiz (half day)
Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park (full day)
Barbate (full day)

You’re on a beautifully unspoilt stretch of coast here, just 2km from low-key Conil de la Frontera, a traditional Andalusian 'pueblo blanco' by the sea. The huge pool is the star of the show, bordered by palms and overlooking the white-tipped waves of the Atlantic. There’s a small heated indoor pool inside (ideal if the wind picks up), plus a bar and a buffet restaurant with a terrace surrounded by greenery. Rooms are simply furnished but comfortable.

Local Area

Conil is a picturesque former fishing village, with a lovely old town and plenty of tapas bars and seafood restaurants. The main beach is one of Spain’s most beautiful – a long sweep of golden sand with shallow waters that are surprisingly calm for the Costa de la Luz. A 20-minute drive leads you to picturesque Vejer de la Frontera, a hilltop pueblo blanco, while 40 minutes will bring you to the ancient city of Cadiz (there’s a weekly included shuttle bus). A little further afield, you’ve got Jerez de la Frontera, the heart of sherry country (around an hour away), and beautiful Seville, sitting on the Guadalquivir River (90 minutes).

Optional excursions

Optional excursions can only be booked in resort and are subject to minimum numbers

Conil de la Frontera

1/5

This wonderfully indulgent week kicks off with a guided tour of Conil de la Frontera. It’s a lively seaside city with impressive views over the Atlantic matched by beautiful golden sand beaches and numerous cliffs and coves. The tour takes in the historic Torre Castilnovo tower overlooking the coast before winding through the city streets that are lined with ice cream parlours, seafood restaurants and tempting tapas bars. After soaking up the salty seaside ambience you’ll settle down for a traditional pescaíto frito before walking back to the hotel for sunbathing or a siesta. Taxis can also be arranged for anyone who’d prefer not to walk the two-kilometre distance.
