Local Area
Conil is a picturesque former fishing village, with a lovely old town and plenty of tapas bars and seafood restaurants. The main beach is one of Spain’s most beautiful – a long sweep of golden sand with shallow waters that are surprisingly calm for the Costa de la Luz. A 20-minute drive leads you to picturesque Vejer de la Frontera, a hilltop pueblo blanco, while 40 minutes will bring you to the ancient city of Cadiz (there’s a weekly included shuttle bus). A little further afield, you’ve got Jerez de la Frontera, the heart of sherry country (around an hour away), and beautiful Seville, sitting on the Guadalquivir River (90 minutes).
Optional excursions
Optional excursions can only be booked in resort and are subject to minimum numbers
Conil de la Frontera
This wonderfully indulgent week kicks off with a guided tour of Conil de la Frontera. It’s a lively seaside city with impressive views over the Atlantic matched by beautiful golden sand beaches and numerous cliffs and coves. The tour takes in the historic Torre Castilnovo tower overlooking the coast before winding through the city streets that are lined with ice cream parlours, seafood restaurants and tempting tapas bars. After soaking up the salty seaside ambience you’ll settle down for a traditional pescaíto frito before walking back to the hotel for sunbathing or a siesta. Taxis can also be arranged for anyone who’d prefer not to walk the two-kilometre distance.
