Location
The Costa Tropical, located on Spain’s southern coast, gets its name from the warm African air that’s trapped by the Sierra Nevada Mountains. This unique climate, marked by its fertile microclimate, supports thriving plantations of pomegranates, bananas, and sugar cane, creating a colourful and picturesque landscape. You’ll be just three kilometres from Salobreña, with a daily shuttle service available to take you there for strolls along the steep, cobbled streets lined with whitewashed buildings adorned with f...
This hotel is for those who want a good old fashioned Spanish hotel escape in an isolated cliff-top location with to-die-for views. The Salobrena offers a simple, vintage hotel experience that’s uncommon in an ever more corporate Spanish hotel industry – where the buffet will not be endless in choice, but the owner is willing to set aside his time to introduce you to some of his favourite Spanish wines, or the local Montero rum produced by his family. A range of other activities allow you an authentic insight into the local culture of the beautiful province of Granada.

Optional excursions
Tropical Valley
1 / 4
This half day excursion starts with a guided panoramic tour of the Tropical Valley in Almuñécar. It’s a vast agricultural area where exotic fruit, such as custard apples, mangos, papayas, and avocados, are grown in plantations. We’ll stop at one of the local farms to find out more about the cultivation methods and to taste some of the delicious fresh fruit against a beautiful sub-tropical backdrop.
Las Alpujarras
1 / 4
We’ll venture into the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada Mountains today. This is where we’ll find breathtaking views across dramatic valleys as well as traditional whitewashed villages, known as pueblos. After a coffee break in Pórtugos we’ll visit a local Serrano ham factory and enjoy a drop of the regional wine. From here we’ll transfer to the village of Pampaneira, situated on top of Poqueira Gorge. The views are amazing, and we’ll spend time strolling around the village and shopping for original hand-crafted souvenirs.
Nerja Caves and Frigiliana
1 / 4
This morning we’ll step back in time as we visit the prehistoric caves in Maro. This district of Nerja is where one of the world’s most important and impressive cave systems was discovered and we’ll find out more on a guided tour. After the tour has completed, we’ll head to the beautiful Spanish village of Frigiliana – known for its Muscatel wine production and abundant flowers. We’ll also have time to visit the whitewashed Church of San Antonio and admire the views from the centre of the Old Town.
Guided tour of Malaga
1 / 4
Today we’ll visit the capital of the Costa del Sol, Malaga, and enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city’s highlights. Starting from the marina we’ll head up to the Moorish Gibralfaro Castle to walk the walls and take in the exceptional panoramas. It’s the perfect place to see the city from on high including the port, the bull ring and the fabulous cathedral. From here we’ll visit Malaga’s most important historical sites and enjoy free time to stroll around the remains of the ancient Roman Theatre and Alcazaba fortress. We’ll also step inside the cathedral to see the stunning Renaissance decorations as well as enjoying a stroll around the exterior gardens and peaceful courtyard. Afterwards, you can browse the boutique shops on the pedestrianised Calle Larios street or seek out a tapas bar for a spot of lunch before we head back to the hotel from the marina.
