Capdepera Market and Cala Ratjada (half day)

The nearby village of Capdepera, which is overlooked by an impressive medieval castle, hosts a weekly market selling local produce such as plants, artisan food, footwear and textiles. Browse the market stalls and then continue to Cala Ratjada, which boasts a lively marina with surrounding bars and cafes, a lighthouse, and views to the white sand beach of Cala Agullas which is one of the best on the island.

Travel to the capital Palma for a guided walking tour of the old town and visit to the grand cathedral. The charming old town is characterised by a maze of streets with a distinctly Moorish heritage. While the cathederal, whose construction began in the 13th century, incorporates Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassical styles. It also features the restoration designs of Antoni Gaudi, who introduced stained glass windows to the main chapel.

The secluded sandy beach of Canyamel stretches along the coastline to the front of the hotel. In between, there is an uneven wooden boardwalk which connects to a steep coastal trail with numerous stone steps leading to the Caves of Artà less than a mile away in one direction and a steep path that winds up towards the lookout point of Cap Vermell in the opposite direction. The street behind the hotel has a small selection of shops, cafes and a mini market.
Out and about
There is a bus stop beside the hotel which offers a regular service to points of interest along the east coast and further afield to the capital city Palma, approximately 50 miles away. The 14th-century fortress of Capdepera is five-and-a-half miles away. The drive to/from the airport takes approximately one-and-a-half hours. While eight miles away, you will find the lively resort of Cala Ratjada and the traditional Majorcan town of Son Servera, which has a pedestrianised centre and an impressive open-air, Gothic-style temple.
Cala Millor
Eight-and-a-half miles away, this lively resort has a great selection of shops, cafes and restaurants, as well as an extensive sandy beach.
Porto Cristo
The picturesque little fishing town of Porto Cristo, 13 miles away, has a charming harbour area and is the hometown of former tennis star Rafael Nadal. Around two miles from here, the popular tourist attraction Cuevas del Drach (Dragon Caves) is a showcase for stalactites.
