Hermitage of Gracia
1 / 5
This gentle four-mile walk sets off from your hotel and winds through the peaceful countryside north of Santa Susanna. You’ll stroll beneath a canopy of native trees before reaching Font del Boer – a rustic drinking fountain. The route continues to the Ermita de Gracia, a serene hilltop hermitage offering panoramic views across the landscape and, on clear days, the distant Mediterranean.
Costa Brava
1 / 5
This rewarding five-mile walk begins with a scenic coach ride to Platja de La Fosca, where you join the iconic Camí de Ronda coastal path. Winding north along the Costa Brava, the moderately challenging trail reveals hidden coves, pine-backed beaches and sweeping sea views. Highlights include the colourful fishing huts at Cala S’Alguer, Platja del Castell and the peaceful Cala Estreta, with glimpses of Roman quarries and ancient ruins along the way. The walk ends in the seaside village of Calella de Palafrugell.
Aiguamolls de l’Empordà Natural Park
1 / 5
This easy seven-mile walk begins in the historic town of Castelló d'Empuries, where you’ll explore its impressive Gothic cathedral before following a gentle trail into the Aiguamolls de l’Empordà Natural Park. Over the course of around five hours, you’ll meander through salt marshes, reed beds and tranquil lagoons teeming with birdlife – from herons and egrets to flamingos. Timber hides and raised boardwalks offer perfect spots for wildlife-watching, while a stop at Can Comes beach adds a stunning coastal backdrop.
Montseny Natural Park
1 / 5
This five-mile route explores the diverse landscapes of Montseny Nature Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Starting at the Can Casades Information Centre, the walk begins with views of Turó de l’Home and Les Agudes before continuing through spruce forest – the southernmost of its kind on the Iberian Peninsula. The trail climbs gradually towards open mountain meadows and a weather observatory near the summit. On the descent, there’s the chance to visit the Santa Fe swamp, a small reservoir dating back to the early 20th century.
Volcanos and medieval towns
1 / 5
This five-six-mile moderate walk explores the unique volcanic landscapes of Garrotxa Natural Park. After just over an hour coach journey from Santa Susanna, the route begins near the Fageda d’en Jordà – an unusual beech forest growing on ancient lava flows. Well-maintained paths guide you through shaded woodland and up to the Santa Margarida crater, where a Romanesque hermitage stands in the centre. You’ll continue past the Croscat volcano, with its exposed interior offering a rare glimpse into volcanic geology.
