Enjoy a scenic coach drive along the most famous loch in Scotland, Loch Ness. Loch Ness contains more water than all the lakes of England and Wales combined, making it the most voluminous lake in the UK. Measuring 23 miles long, it is most famous for its lovely views which you can capture on a few photo stops, before continuing to Camerons Tearoom for a festive treat.
Location
The Highland scenery is some of the best in the world in the winter. If snow does fall there is nowhere more awe-inspiring and festive than the mountains and lochs of this beautiful part of Scotland. Out and about
Often called the Capital of the Highlands, Inverness is a city where history, legends and breathtaking scenery meet, and is situated a short taxi ride away from your hotel. Found on the banks of the River Ness, this is the UK’s most northerly city, and it has witnessed everything from Viking raids to Jacobite uprisings. The city is compact and easy to explore on foot and although many places are in Inverness itself, some of the well-known sights such as Culloden and Loch Ness lie outside the centre. Visit Inverness Museum and Art Gallery on Christmas Eve to learn more about the history of the Highlands, discover Inverness Castle and its viewpoint over the city, explore the extraordinary Leakey’s Bookshop which is housed in an old church in Inverness, and do not miss Inverness Cathedral which dominates the riverside.
