Sail away with Holland America Line

Holland America Line has been sailing the Seven Seas for more than 150 years, putting it right at the forefront of cruise getaways. This award-winning fleet puts a particular emphasis on sophisticated décor, world-class dining, dazzling entertainment and impeccable standards of service – all on mid- sized, uncrowded ships that put quality over quantity every time.

Pinnacle Class

Ships in this class: Rotterdam (2021), Nieuw Statendam (2018), Koningsdam (2016)
Size: 2,650 to 2,668 passengers

The Pinnacle ships are the newest and largest in the Holland America Line fleet, with more amenities than those in other classes. These have five speciality restaurants on board (steakhouse, Italian, pan-Asian, Japanese, and French), and a string of entertainment venues (live music bar, blues and rock and roll clubs, piano lounge, casino and show lounge).

Signature Class

Ships in this class: Nieuw Amsterdam (2010), Eurodam (2008)
Size: 2,106 passengers

Signature ships are around 15% smaller and more intimate than Pinnacle ships but you’ll still find three speciality restaurants – steakhouse, Italian and pan-Asian – and for night-time fun, there’s a show lounge, live music bar, Rock Lounge, and piano spot.

Vista Class

Ships in this class: Noordam (2006), Westerdam (2004), Oosterdam (2003), Zuiderdam (2002)
Size: 1,964 to 1,972 passengers

Vista Class ships are only 5% smaller than Signature ships, but carry around 9% fewer passengers at double occupancy, meaning they’re far less crowded.

There are two speciality restaurants on these ships: the steakhouse and Italian. The entertainment venues mirror the Signature Class ships - except the Rolling Stone Lounge replaces the Blues Club.

R Class

Ships: Zaandam (2000), Volendam (1999)
Size: 1,432 passengers

25 to 35% smaller than the rest of the fleet, R Class ships have a much more intimate, cosy feel on board, and so they’re ideal for those more focused on port-side activities.

These ships feature itineraries with smaller ports which are less accessible to larger vessels.

Luxurious restaurant

Gourmet dining

Holland America Line takes its gastronomy offering seriously, and it shows. Onboard dining experiences are carefully curated by an expert team of celebrity chefs who work with wine sommeliers and cocktail specialists to create five-star food and drink across the fleet.

Each ship offers an elevated buffet experience, pop-up dining, show cooking demos, and speciality a la carte eateries serving authentic cuisine inspired by destinations like Italy, Asia, France, Holland, and the US. The Global Fresh Fish Program offers more than 80 varieties of fresh fish sourced locally.

Finally, depending on your cruise duration, there’s one or more 'Dressy Nights', where you have the opportunity to dress up a little should you wish. The rest of the time it’s smart-casual.

Entertainers on stage

Live entertainment

Evenings come alive on board Holland America Line ships, with singers, musicians and dancers taking to the stage in atmospheric venues across the fleet, with regionally inspired entertainment. The offering varies per ship, so please do check.

B.B. King’s Blues Club: A resident Memphis-formed band performing R&B greats. Billboard Onboard: A piano soundtrack and the venue for music trivia. Rolling Stone Rock Room: A live band performing classic hits. Step One Dance Company: Six world-class dancers perform two shows in dazzling costumes. World Stage: Stage shows with an accompanying LED two-storey screen. Casino: Slots, table and more.

A luxurious, round swimming pool

Fun & leisure

Days on Holland America Line ships can be go-slow or as action-packed as you like – the choice is yours. Keep active in the fleet fitness center, which comes fully equipped with state-of-the-art cardio and weights machines. This is also the venue for classes like yoga, Pilates and spinning.

If you’re after something more low-key, on the other hand, there’s poolside relaxing, duty-free shopping, on board movies, and the Greenhouse Spa & Salon for pampering treatments. Plus, a selection of swish bars and lounges for kicking back with a coffee or cocktail.

The Explorations Central™ programme, meanwhile, facilitates talks, performances and food tasting sessions to help you learn about the ports on your itinerary.
