Discover the American Southwest

Covering many of the same highlights as our ‘National Parks – Grand Circle’ self-drive itinerary, this more in-depth discovery of the southwestern states also loops in/out of Las Vegas, but packs in a lot of extra punches with just four more days on the road. You’ll start with two nights under the neon lights of Las Vegas, before travelling via Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon to the outdoors adventure playground of Moab. Here, you can explore the red-rock wonderland of Arches National Park, and the endless vistas of Canyonlands, the largest and arguably most impressive of all Utah’s national parks. You’ll head up into the clouds with a quick scoot across a small corner of Colorado, enough to give a flavour of the Rocky Mountains and the chance to conquer a couple of the high elevation passes (the scenery is breath taking), celebrating your achievement with a couple of nights in the lively and likeable town of Durango. At nearby Mesa Verde NP, you can explore the impressive ruins left by the Ancestral Peubloans. Travelling via the blockbuster landscapes of Monument Valley, you’ll cool off in the tranquil waters of Lake Powell before finishing up at the Grand Canyon.
