The historic city of Charleston is located on South Carolina’s mid-east coast looking out over the Atlantic. It’s a grand old maritime city with cobblestone streets and statue-filled parks providing ample opportunities to enjoy a traditional dose of Southern hospitality.
If you’re staying downtown, near Wragg Square and Marion Square, you’ll find yourself within walking distance of the city’s main attractions. Heritage house museums, art galleries, boutique clothing stores and farmers’ markets are all nearby.
A great idea is to borrow a bike and pedal off in search of the French Quarter, the original walled city. This is where you’ll find Waterfront Park, the Confederate Museum and Charleston City Market. The historic Georgian terrace houses of Rainbow Row also overlook the water alongside grand antebellum properties and The Battery seawall.
