Kenya holidays

Astonishing wildlife and safari lodges

Situated on the east coast of Africa, on the edge of the Indian Ocean, Kenya is one of the key countries on the continent for watching wildlife in its natural environment. This is where the mountainous highlands of the Great Rift Valley and the plains of the Maasai Mara straddle the Equator to provide Kenya holiday makers with untold magical moments.

Highlights of a holiday to Kenya

Time your trip to coincide with the wildebeest migration in the summer and you’ll be treated to one of the greatest natural spectacles on the planet. Alternatively, take a safari in southern Kenya’s Amboseli National Park and prepare for huge herds of elephants as well as some sensational views of Mount Kilimanjaro in neighbouring Tanzania.

Maasai Mara National Reserve

The majority of Maasai Mara safari tours will start from the Kenyan capital, Nairobi. From there you’re just a short flight or five-hour overland drive to the closest entry point. And what a treat lies in store on your arrival. This is where you’ll find vast swathes of savanna plains pitted with lone acacia trees for as far as the eye can see. From June to October these protected parklands provide one of the greatest shows on earth as waves of wildebeest, zebra and antelope attempt to migrate across the crocodile-infested Mara River. Outside of the summer, hippos, cheetahs, leopards and hyenas can all be seen on safari alongside the largest populations of lions on the planet.
