The Winchester Hotel
Iconic Cape Dutch style boutique hotel conveniently located on the vibrant Seapoint promenade.
The Winchester Hotel has become something of a Cape Town icon thanks, in part, to its fantastic location right on the seafront and close to the city. Charming and characterful, this three-storey gabled hotel evokes a bygone era. It’s the perfect place to get out and explore or sit back and make the most of the swimming pool, sundeck, and views over the ocean.
Step into the hotel’s Shoreditch restaurant for a stylish setting and contemporary menu featuring cooking on flames. Dine indoors or eat under the flowering bougainvillea in the courtyard, perfect on a warm evening.
If you’ve been out and about all day and fancy an afternoon aperitif or sundowner, Harvey’s bar is the place to head to. A favourite with locals, there’s a warm and sociable ambience complemented by sea views and plenty of space to enjoy relaxing.
Spacious, loft-style Classic Rooms and Junior Suites invite you to enjoy your stay in stylish and comfortable surroundings. All rooms have lots of natural light as well as splashes of colour and vibrancy. It’s these little touches that have made The Winchester Hotel such a South African institution.

Local Area
South Africa's southwestern port capital is the oldest in the country and awash with things to do. This is where you'll find penguins on Boulder's Beach, the amazing Two Oceans Aquarium, and ferries departing to Robben Island, the jail where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years. Cape Town is a vibrant modern city that mixes a laid-back Dutch-colonial vibe with the more cosmopolitan leanings of southern Africa's rich and famous.
Getting around is really easy with numerous promenades, boardwalks and cycling trails taking you into the city and around the coast. One of Cape Town's most iconic landmarks is Table Mountain. Accessing the summit by the Aerial Cableway is definitely a must. The views over the city's natural amphitheatre (the City Bowl) and out to sea are sensational. At the upper station there are also free guided walking trails as well as a café at the top.
The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is a top spot for shopping and dining out. It's also where you can catch a ferry around the coast or out to Duiker Island to watch Cape fur seals.
Staying in Seapoint, you’ll enjoy ocean views and can walk along the ocean-hugging pedestrianised walkway, plus have Cape Town’s highlights on your doorstep.
