Da Vinci on Nelson Mandela Square - Deluxe King Room

Hand-Picked Hotel

Contemporary luxury hotel right in the heart of Sandton’s shopping mall, with extensive private art collection

If you’re looking to visit Johannesburg, Da Vinci on Nelson Mandela Square is an ideal place to stay. Not only will you be surrounded by designer boutiques and luxury stores, but you’ll also be on the direct Metro line for OR Tambo International Airport.

Situated in Sandton’s Legacy Corner Mall, the hotel’s elegant entrance sweeps you up into the foyer from where you can admire the contemporary art collection. Head up the staircase and you’ll find the lounge bar overlooking the infinity pool and surrounding sun loungers.

It’s a thoroughly unique concept with sultry jazz bar ambience mixing with modern monochrome designs and the shimmering skyscrapers of Johannesburg’s financial district.

Rooms and suites at the Da Vinci on Nelson Mandela Square continue in the same vein. They’re spacious and stylish to provide an urban retreat after a day spent seeing the sights or getting pampered at the on-site spa.

If you’ve got time before or after breakfast, why not pop in for a quick steam, sauna, or gym session. Alternatively, just enjoy some time relaxing on a lounger by the infinity pool, with a cool drink and a good book. You’re on holiday, after all.

Local Area

Johannesburg is the largest city in South Africa and the capital of Gauteng, the country’s richest region. Situated 2 hrs' flying time to the northeast of Cape Town, Joburg is often seen as a gateway city with travellers passing through via OR Tambo International Airport.
Which is a shame as this place has a lot to give.

For example, visit the suburbs surrounding the city’s financial district and you’ll be slap bang in the middle of Africa’s largest shopping centre, Sandton City. It is luxury designer store heaven, and just a Metro ride away from the city centre or the airport.

Away from the mega malls of Sandton, Johannesburg holds some of the most important cultural exhibitions in South Africa. The Apartheid Museum, the Hector Peterson Museum, and the Johannesburg Art Gallery, are all well worth visiting if staying in the city.

Elsewhere you can learn about the country’s volatile history with guided tours into the townships of Soweto and Alexandra. Visiting Nelson Mandela’s house and the Soweto Inspirational Home Museum are incredibly humbling experiences.

Although Joburg is a stop-over destination for Western Cape tours and national park safaris, it’s also a fascinating city and well worth discovering in its own right.
