The view over Padar Island, Komodo National Park, Indonesia

Indonesia holidays

More than 17,000 islands make up Indonesia, south-east Asia’s biggest country. On our holidays to Indonesia, we focus our attention on the beautiful island of Bali, as well as the little islands that surround it. Base yourself in a beach resort and look forward to caramel sands, fresh coconut water and spectacular sunsets, or head for Bali’s cultural capital, Ubud, where the landscape is lush and green.

A private tour can reveal some of Bali’s treasures, from the wonderful Tirta Empul Temple to the rice fields and terraces at Gunung Kawi. Hop on a boat and you can discover Padar Island – home to more than 2,000 majestic Komodo dragons – and Nusa Penida, where the snorkelling is superb.

Bali

Bali’s a real natural beauty. The coastline shifts from soft sandy bays with gentle seas to dramatic volcanic cliffs and surf-ready breakers; inland, the landscape is a patchwork of green, from terraced rice paddies to wild, untamed jungle. There’s culture to discover too, with temples and sacred sites easily accessed on day trips. And while you’ll find plenty of life in the beach resorts and upland town of Ubud, it’s easy to steal away and find a peaceful spot all to yourself.

Komodo Island

A short ferry ride from Bali lies Komodo, home to the huge lizards known as Komodo dragons. Seeing these incredible creatures in the wild is the highlight of a trip here, but the island has more to offer – snorkelling, hiking and sunbathing on the pastel-hued Pink Beach.
