Local Area
Lots of travellers head to Surat Thani province with plans to take the ferry to Koh Samui, but there’s a lot to be said for exploring further along Thailand’s southeast coast. This is where you’ll find the traditional seaside town of Khanom, situated around 30 minutes’ drive from the Donsak Raja Ferry Port.
It’s the perfect place to enjoy local life without the hassle of too many tourists and overpriced souvenir shops. Here, you’ll find the golden sands of Na Dan Beach, Khanom Beach and Kho Khao Beach overlooking the calm shores of the Gulf of Thailand.
Tropical palm and pine trees sit alongside gently bobbing fishing boats and pods of pink dolphins appearing above the ocean waves. Explore inland and you can take a dip in the Samet Chun Waterfall or visit Namtok Si Khit National Park for even more swimming spots, as well as hiking trails through teak and pine forests.
