Thavorn Beach Village Resort & Spa
Hand-Picked Hotel
Hillside and beachside retreat that’s close, but not too close, to Patong.
Situated on a swathe of white sand in a peaceful part of Kamala Beach, Thavorn Beach Village Resort & Spa stretches up the surrounding hillside to offer guests an exclusive tropical hideaway. It’s the perfect place to spend time soaking up some sunshine or enjoying the underwater world that can be found around Nakalay Reef, just offshore.
Step outside your spacious hillside or beachside bungalow and you’ll discover one of Southeast Asia’s largest freeform swimming pools as well as a beautiful botanical garden. Take a dip, stroll among the flowering orchids and then spend an afternoon enjoying a warm stone massage at the Chann Wellness Spa.
There are three eateries to choose from, but the Old Siam beachfront restaurant deserves special mention. This is where you can tuck into local Thai dishes among the twinkling lights around the bay. Alternatively, jump in a cab and head ‘out out’ under the neon glare of Bangla Road.

Holiday location
Local Area
Phuket is situated in southwest Thailand overlooking the Andaman Sea. It’s a popular holiday hotspot for travellers looking for sun, sea and sand as well as opportunities to explore inland where lush green hillsides and animal sanctuaries await.
Getting there is half the fun with overnight bus rides from Bangkok taking around 12 hours. Of course, if you’d prefer to arrive in style, and a little less creased, Phuket also has its own airport and is just a two-hour transfer from Krabi International Airport.
On arrival, you’ll find plenty of popular places to stay on the southwest coast. Kamala Beach, Karon Beach and Kata Beach are all well represented with white sand and warm shallow waters, and have more than their fair share of luxury beachside resorts. Patong Bay is also considered to be one of southern Thailand’s top resort areas, with glowing neon enticing holidaymakers into the bars and clubs in and around Bangla Road.
However, don’t discount Patong Bay as just for the party crowd. In the north of the bay area, closer to Kamala, Nakalay Beach presents a much more peaceful side. This is where you can stay on a snow-white slither of sand and swim offshore to experience life underneath the Andaman in and around the fish-abundant coral at Nakalay Reef.
