Holiday location
Local Area
The Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers is in the popular Corniche area. This waterfront area is popular with both locals and tourists as a place to wander and relax. It’s a great place for a stroll, but many choose to explore by bike – and these are easily hired locally.
Though the Conrad has its own private beach, the public beach on the Corniche is worth visiting. It’s spotlessly clean and well-organised, with loungers and umbrellas for hire, along with jetskis and boats.
At one end of the Corniche is the busy Marina Mall – which includes leisure attractions such as an ice rink and cinema as well as numerous shops – and the Heritage Village. This open-air museum gives you a real taste of old Abu Dhabi, with a traditional village complete with souks and goat hair tents.
Of course, there’s no shortage of things to do away from the Corniche. A visit to Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, with its 82 white marble towers and enormous mosaic artwork, is a must. Sports fans will enjoy a visit to Yas Island – a huge entertainment complex that includes the city’s Formula 1 circuit. And for something quieter? Desert safaris, by car or camel, will give you a taste of Emirati life beyond the skyscrapers and malls.
