Daintree Ecolodge
Hand-Picked Hotel
With stylish lodges and a fine dining scene, Daintree Ecolodge takes rainforest escapes to another level.
Daintree Ecolodge is tucked away deep in the heart of the Daintree Rainforest, an ancient ecosystem that’s thought to date back millions of years. This is luxury lodge living at its finest – beautiful, contemporary sanctuaries that come with foliage views and access to a nearby pool and natural waterfall.
With just 40 lodges and treehouses available, you can expect plenty in the way of peace and quiet here. For serious R&R, head for the Daintree Wellness Spa, which takes inspiration from the traditions of the forest’s native Kuku Yalanji people. Treatments include warm rain showers followed by therapeutic massages.
The Julyumba Restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner, with menus incorporating locally sourced produce – a passion of the team here. In the mornings, you can fuel-up for a day of exploring with fresh juices, loaded omelettes and home-made bread and granola. In the evenings, meanwhile, you’ll enjoy local favourites like crispy squid and kangaroo tartare. There’s an extensive wine and cocktail list to wash it all down, too.

Local Area
The Daintree Rainforest is the world’s oldest living rainforest and thought to date back some 180 million years. It’s a home for the Indigenous Kuku Yalanji people, along with hundreds of species of birds and animals and thousands of exotic ancient plants.
Mossman Gorge is a must-see, a sprawling area of green mountain peaks and sugar cane fields, and your window to the traditions of the Kuku Yalanji culture. A cruise along the Daintree River is also highly recommended. This mighty waterway weaves through the forest for 140 kilometres, brimming with frogs, tree snakes and birds.
The Daintree is your gateway to some of Queensland’s most sought-after sights, too. It’s part of the mammoth Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, a patchwork of marshes, rainforest and sandy beaches that unravel to meet the topaz waters of the Great Barrier Reef. Stop by the seaside town of Port Douglas to mooch around its cafés and shops, before hitting the reef with a snorkel to explore.
