Hand-Picked Hotel

Colonial-style charm with English Harbour views and direct access to the beach.

This elegant, colonial-style resort straddles both a tropical wooded hillside and a peaceful white-sand bay. It also gives guests a great view of the coming and going of yachts in English Harbour. When you want to get out and explore, there’s a free shuttle that’ll whisk you to Nelson’s Dockyard.

The hotel is spread over different levels and cloaked in palm trees that lead down to the beach. Among the greenery, you’ll find a good-sized swimming pool, tennis courts, and the state-of-the-art Our Spa, where massages and body wraps are among the treatments on offer. Down by the water, meanwhile, you can take borrow kayaks, paddleboards, and snorkelling equipment.

Dining-wise, you’ve got two restaurants to choose from – one with an ocean view – serving innovative Italian and Caribbean fusion dishes. Lots of the produce is plucked from the hotel’s organic garden, so the ingredients are as fresh as they come.

Local Area

Antigua is situated in the centre of the Caribbean islands. It’s an ideal setting for a beach holiday or for sailors looking to make the most of the warm trade winds.

If you’re staying on the south coast, around the headland from English Harbour, you’ll find a gently undulating green landscape with hilltop hotels taking pride of place overlooking Freeman’s Bay. This is also where you can see some of the island’s scenic rock formations with the Pillars of Hercules and Mermaid Gardens accessible on a hike to Shirley Heights.

Further along Antigua’s south coast, to the west, Rendezvous Bay Beach and Carlisle Bay conjure up yet more possibilities for relaxing on the sand. Whereas, Devil’s Bridge National Park, on the east coast and the historic ruins of Fort James, in the northwest, offer alternative day trip ideas if you’re looking for more adventure.
