The Verandah, Antigua
Hand-Picked Hotel
Extensive all-inclusive beach resort for lovers of variety.
The Verandah, Antigua is one of the largest luxury properties on the island, with plenty of peaceful nooks tucked away within its tropical grounds. Getting around is easy, thanks to in-resort buggies and shuttle buses. That said, if you fancy strolling in the sunshine you’ll find swimming pools, tennis courts and white-sand beaches all within walking distance.
The adults-only resort has recently been treated to a bit of a makeover with renovated rooms and public areas.
Guest suites feature furnished verandas and comfy living areas, while villas also include kitchens and dining rooms. It’s a chic retreat to rest and relax in, before getting ready to enjoy an all-inclusive evening of fine dining at Nicole’s Restaurant or sociable beach grills above Lover’s Beach. Elsewhere, the Rasta Bar and the Lazy Pelican Bar serve up some good vibrations during the day as well as a chilled-out soundtrack as the sun sets.
If you fancy diving into water sports and land-based activities, you’ll find a complete programme to help you keep moving. Tennis courts, kayaks, SUP boards, a fitness centre and even a mini golf course with self-serve local beers are all included, and there’s a full-service spa if you’re tempted by the optional treatments, therapies, and open-air massage tables.

Local Area
Antigua is situated just where the north-eastern side of the Caribbean combines with the Atlantic. It’s an ideal island for romance and relaxation with powdery white-sand beaches and offshore coral reefs just a couple of ways to spend your days here.
Stay at a luxury all-inclusive on the east coast and you’ll find yourself close to the limestone landscapes of Devil’s Bridge National Park. It’s an energising place to enjoy an afternoon as the waves crash on the shore and water spurts from the natural blow holes.
Head into the hinterland and you’ll find walking trails taking you to lookout points and swim spots as well as rural roads leading to local townships and sugarcane plantations. St Johns, the capital, is worth a visit, with colourful waterfront houses mixing with monuments and museums to offer a full day’s excursion. It’s around 40 minutes’ drive from The Verandah, as is the airport.
English Harbour, in the south of the island, also makes a worthwhile alternative to beach days. This is where you’ll find maritime museums, marinas and Shirley Heights Lookout as well as coastal walking trails to several of the island’s most iconic rock formations, including the Pillars of Hercules and the Mermaid Gardens rock pool.
