The five-star O2 Beach Club & Spa is Barbados’ newest luxury boutique-style resort. Unusually for the island of Barbados, it’s also a high-rise, so as you might expect, it offers some of the best views of the South Coast of the island, with a roof deck terrace, and full-service spa on the 8th floor. Head one floor up and you’ll also be invited to dine at the trendy Oro restaurant, whose modern vintage stylings wouldn’t look out of place in any of the world’s cosmopolitan capital cities.
In terms of ground-level facilities, there are adults-only swimming pools, swim-up bars, and a whirlpool tub, as well as direct access to a white-sand beach. There’s also boogie boarding, snorkelling, sea kayaking and a 24-hour gym, if you’re aiming to keep active.

Suites are a generous size and feature one king-size or two queen-size beds. Concierge Suites are super spacious and include a separate king-size bedroom. All suites are located alongside the adults-only river pool, and include balconies with pool or ocean views. Décor is Caribbean chic, with vibrant splashes of colour offset by deep blues and white. A variety of two-bedroom suites are also available on request. Just so you know, this hotel does not currently charge any additional Resort Fee (subject to change without notice). A Barbados Room Rate Levy of USD $10 per bedroom, per night is payable locally.

There’s something about Barbados that makes it easy to unwind. Whether it’s the smoky smells of a Bajan beach barbecue or those incomparable pink and purple sunsets, heading to this easterly edge of the Caribbean is all about soothing the soul.
If you’re lucky enough to be based on the island’s south coast, you’ll enjoy short transfer times from the airport (the O2 Beach Club & Spa is just 15-20 minutes by car). You’ll also be able to take advantage of the sociable scene at the nearby town of St. Lawrence Gap. This is where the locals like to hang out before easing into evenings of live music at the bars and clubs.
Head to the capital, Bridgetown, that takes centre=stage on the island with examples of British era architecture, including a military garrison. Travel further up the island’s west coast and the beaches of the Platinum Coast sing to sunbathers and global superstars. Batts Rock Beach, Folkestone Marine Park and Heywoods Beach are just a few of the white sandy options, with visits to Speightstown, Holetown or the Jacobean St. Nicholas Abbey great alternatives for day trippers.
