Laid-back beachfront resort with a great choice of restaurants.
With a white-sand beach and an ocean lagoon on the doorstep, it’s easy to see why Sugar Bay Barbados is such a big hit with holidaymakers. This is somewhere to kick back and unwind, located in the low-key area of Hastings close to the popular resort of Rockley, the island’s capital of Bridgetown, and the historic Garrison.
Once you’ve enjoyed a snorkel in the sea or a snooze in the shade, you’ll be all set to sample the resort’s dining venues. Steakhouse, sushi, and Caribbean cuisine are all part of the all-inclusive programme, alongside premium drinks at five different venues. From rum shacks and adults-only pubs to swim-ups and beach bars, there’s plenty to choose from.
Guest rooms are bright and breezy, with calm neutral tones and a private balcony or terrace. All come with a view, too – either of the tropical gardens, the swimming pools (one of which is island-shaped), or the ocean waves.

Holiday location
Local Area
Anyone heading to Barbados on holiday should consider the south coast when it comes to places to stay. This is where you’ll find the capital, Bridgetown, as well as the UNESCO-listed Garrison – once the largest British colonial base in the Caribbean. Grantley Adams International Airport is just 20 minutes down the road, too, which creates a convenient touch down if you can’t wait to wiggle your toes in the sand.
Elsewhere on the island – which only stretches 21 miles nose to tail and 14 miles across – you’ll find more colonial history in Holetown on the west coast, as well as the well-loved Mount Gay rum distillery further north. Staying on the south coast also places you close to the lively nightlife scene at St. Lawrence Gap, the low-key beach resort of Rockley, and the fishing villages in and around Oistins Bay, which is famous for its weekly ‘fish fry’.
