Episkopi Village
1 / 8
Spend some time visiting Episkopi on this half-day excursion. This charming village sits north-east of Paphos, surrounded by vineyards, citrus groves, rocky hills and forests laced with streams that lead to the Ezousas River. The village's traditional core remains unchanged, with old stone features, narrow streets, and houses made of local limestone. Visit the botanical garden, enjoy a coffee at a cafe with a stunning valley view, and perhaps light a candle in the 12th-century church dedicated to Saint Hilarion the Great (who saw out the final years of his hermit life in a hillside cell just outside the village). And bring your binoculars – nearby is the Great Rock of Episkopi, home to a number of rare bird species.
Troodos Mountains & Kykkos Monastery
1 / 8
Journey up into the cedar forests of the Troodos Mountains, a region famed for its concentration of Byzantine churches and monasteries. Our first stop is the Monastery of Chrysorrogiatissa, dedicated to 'Our Lady of the Golden Pomegranate’. Legend has it that the monastery was set up in 1152 by a monk who’d found a miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary floating in the waters off Paphos. Inside, you’ll find a host of treasures, including beautiful frescoes and a gold and silver-plated icon of Christ and the Virgin Mary. Continuing our exploration, we'll reach the Marathasa Valley and the sky-high Kykkos Monastery. This monastery, dedicated to Panagia (the Virgin Mary), is the wealthiest on the island. It proudly hosts one of three icons attributed to Agios Loukas (Apostle Luke) the Evangelist. The icon, adorned in silver gilt, is displayed in a shrine made of tortoiseshell and mother-of-pearl. After this, enjoy lunch and free time in one of the beautiful mountain villages before we head back.
Limassol, Kourion & Kolossi Castle
1 / 8
A scenic drive along the coast leads us to the ancient city of Kourion, perched on a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean. Highlights of this historic city, which spans Hellenistic, Roman and Christian periods, include a spacious Agora and an early Christian basilica. Be sure to look out for the captivating floor mosaics in the house of Achilleas and the founder's bath, too. Our next stop is Kolossi Castle, a military structure originally dating from the 13th century, later rebuilt in the 15th. Learn about the castle's history with the Knights Templar and Knights Hospitaller, and how one of the world's oldest wines was first made here. Moving on to Limassol's old town, visit Limassol Castle, where the tale goes that Richard the Lionheart married Princess Berengaria (and served the wine from Kolossi Castle). The castle now houses the medieval collection of the Cyprus Museum. Explore the narrow streets around the castle, discovering the Grand Old Mosque and the impressive Limassol Cathedral. Enjoy some free time for a meal and a stroll through Limassol's old town before our return to Paphos.
Omodos Village & Wine Tasting
1 / 8
Omodos, a charming village perched 800 metres up in the Troodos Mountains, is a haven for wine enthusiasts. Wines produced here range from dry to sweet, and include the renowned commandaria dessert wine (one of the oldest in the world) and the local firewater, zivania. At a family-run winery, you'll indulge in a tasting experience, sampling an array of wines and learning of Omodos' rich winemaking heritage, while a guided tour unveils the production process. Wine aside, there's plenty more to see in Omodos. Its cobblestone streets are lined with shops displaying handcrafted sweets and gifts - perfect for picking up a few souvenirs. The pride of Omodos is the Timios Stavros Monastery of the Holy Cross, an ancient and storied landmark at the heart of the community. The central square looks over to the monastery and is the ideal spot to savour a coffee and embrace the simplicity of Cypriot village life.
Nicosia & Larnaca
1 / 8
This full-day tour is a fantastic introduction to the culture and history of Cyprus. We’ll start in Nicosia (Lefkosia in Greek), the island’s capital and Europe’s last divided city. At the Cyprus Handicraft Centre, watch artisans demonstrating traditional crafts, from embroidery and lacemaking to pottery and metalwork. Then, we’ll visit the Cyprus Museum, home to an extensive collection of Cypriot antiquities. We’ll head outside next, to the old walled city of Nicosia. Surrounded by Venetian fortress walls dating back to the 16th century, this charm-filled area is dotted with medieval buildings and historic monuments. From Faneromeni Square, stroll through Laiki Geitonia, a pedestrian zone with some fantastic craft shops (perfect for picking up souvenirs). After lunch, we’ll make our way to Larnaca, where we’ll explore two of its most historic buildings: the 9th-century Church of St. Lazarus (look out for the stunning Byzantine icons inside) and Hala Sultan Tekke mosque, built in a beautiful setting beside a salt lake.
