Included excursions
Paphos Archaeological Park
1 / 4
Step back in time as we uncover Paphos’ rich history, where ancient Greek, Roman, and Byzantine influences come to life. We’ll stroll a maze of Roman villas, where the House of Dionysos steals the show with its breathtaking 2nd-century AD mosaics – each intricate tile depicting scenes from Greek mythology. Then, we’ll take in the ancient Odeon, a still-standing amphitheatre where performances have echoed for centuries. From here, it’s on to the legendary Tombs of the Kings, a sprawling underground necropolis that, despite its name, isn’t home to monarchs of the past but rather the final resting place for high-ranking officials and aristocrats of the Ptolemaic and Roman periods.
Sanctuary of Aphrodite, Kourion & Kolossi
1 / 4
We begin at the Sanctuary of Aphrodite, a site of devotion for over 3,500 years, where ancient worshippers honoured the goddess of love and beauty. From here, we travel to Kourion, once a powerful city-kingdom, where the breathtaking Greco-Roman theatre still hosts performances against a backdrop of rolling waves. The House of Eustolios is also on the itinerary, its exquisite mosaics telling stories of life long ago. After a relaxed seaside lunch, we visit the medieval Kolossi Castle. This former stronghold of the Knights of St. John is famed not only for its impressive fortifications but also for its connection to Commandaria, one of the world’s oldest wines.
Engomi, Salamis & Famagusta
1 / 4
Crossing into Northern Cyprus, we arrive in Engomi, a once-prosperous Bronze Age city that now stands as an archaeological site, where grand walls and forgotten palaces whisper tales of ancient trade and power. From here, we journey to Salamis, a Greco-Roman marvel where marble columns, elaborate mosaics, and an open-air amphitheatre transport us back to past empires. We end the day in Famagusta, a historic port city known for its well-preserved medieval fortifications, including Othello Castle.
Choirokitia, Larnaca & Kition
1 / 4
Travel back to 7000 BC as we visit Tenta, a fascinating Neolithic site with a striking cone-shaped roof. Local legend ties this place to St. Helen’s visit in 327 AD – she's said to have discovered the True Cross here and played a pivotal role in spreading Christianity across the empire. We’ll continue to Choirokoitia, where the beehive-shaped homes give us a rare window into prehistoric life. Our final stop brings us to Larnaca, where beneath the modern city lies the ancient kingdom of Kition – birthplace of the philosopher Zenon and home to the revered Church of St. Lazarus, where the biblical figure is said to have been laid to rest.
Location
It’s an impressive location with direct beach access and is within walking distance of local bars and tavernas. If you’re looking for day trips, regular buses run from the hotel to Paphos harbour for €2 per person. You’ll also find cycling and walking routes nearby and it’s an hour’s drive to the pine-forested foothills of Mount Olympos. Getting here is straightforward with Paphos International Airport just 40 minutes’ drive south.
