Holidays to Czech Republic

Majestic architecture and rich culture

Czech Republic holidays are all about uncovering the country’s rich culture and layers of history, from the days of Bohemia to the Velvet Revolution.

The capital city, Prague, puts on a masterclass in elegant architecture, and is where we focus our tours of the Czech Republic. Stroll along the cobbled streets of the Old Town and you’ll come across a whole host of Gothic, Romanesque, Renaissance and baroque gems. Must-see sights include the beautiful Charles Bridge, lined with imposing statues, and the majestic Prague Castle, a grand complex that was once the seat of Bohemian kings. There are some fantastic museums to visit, too, covering everything from fine art to film-making.

Czech cuisine tends to take its cue from neighbouring countries, with the likes of sauerkraut, schnitzels and goulash featuring on menus. Wash it down with local beer (Pilsner Urquell and Budweiser Budvar are the big names) or try a glass or two of Czech wine, produced in Moravia, in the southern Czech Republic. Holidays to this beautiful corner of Europe brim with culture and class – we’ll raise a glass to that.

Prague

Prague is arguably one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Its UNESCO-listed Old Town is a jumble of centuries-old architecture – a Gothic church here, a baroque palace there. Don’t miss the elaborate medieval clock on the town hall (the oldest astronomical clock still in operation) or the sprawling castle – its exhibits tell the intriguing story of the city.

Danube river cruises

Prague makes a great add-on to a river cruise along the Danube (before or after your sailing, depending on the itinerary and departure date). In addition to Prague’s historic sights, you’ll also get the chance to see beautiful Budapest and pretty Passau, and to cruise through the scenic Wachau Valley.
