Activities and cooking demonstrations with Chef Irini
1 / 6
Chef Irini is ready to share her expertise, wisdom, and passion for Greek cuisine. From crafting her signature Negroni Sbagliato and virgin Sbagliato cocktails, to preparing traditional dishes like Greek salad and Cretan pies and indulging in olive oil and honey tastings. We’ll witness first-hand the art of crafting classic Greek mezze and have a demonstration on how to make loukoumades dessert.
Agies Paraskies pottery
1 / 6
Beautiful hand-thrown ceramics including bowls, urns and vases have been famously produced on Crete since the Minoan period. Acclaimed potter and tutor Eva Zervaki and her son Yiannis will guide you to make your own Greek salad bowl in the traditional design but with your own personal touches. Eva will fire, glaze, and fire the bowls again before we each attempt to make our own masterpiece - a ceramic salad bowl - a unique and special reminder of the holiday.
Heraklion Archaeological Museum including lunch
1 / 6
No visit to Crete would be complete without seeing the brilliant Archaeological Museum in Heraklion. A guide will show us around the different rooms and galleries, where art, artifacts and ceramics dating back to the Minoan period are beautifully displayed, including many items from the Palace of Knossos. After lunch (and a glass of wine, beer or soft drink) in Irini's favourite seafood restaurant, there’s free time in Heraklion for shopping or independent sightseeing before we return to the hotel.
Lassinthos including lunch
1 / 6
Head inland and up to the windmill dotted Lasithi Plateau. Framed by the Dikti mountains, this wide green plain is one of the most fertile regions in Greece, where high quality apples, pears, walnuts and almonds are grown. We’ll stop in the mountain village of Krasi for a refreshing drink in the shade of a 2,400-year-old plane tree, before driving on to lovely Lassinthos, where we’ll enjoy lunch.
Visit to Peskesi Organic and Bio-dynamic farm with lunch
1 / 6
Today we’ll see, taste and learn about traditional Cretan ingredients and cuisine with a visit to Peskesi Organic and Bio-dynamic farm. Here we’ll see over 120 varieties of fruit, vegetables and herbs thriving in a landscape buzzing with bees, butterflies and insects. Peskesi’s restaurant in Heraklion is considered to be one of the best on Crete, and their chef will cook lunch for us at the farm today using methods and techniques that go back Millennia.
Visit Lirarakis Winery including wine tasting session
1 / 6
The focus today is on quality Cretan wine so we’ll head inland to Peza, a semi-mountainous wine-growing region of Crete, and the family-run Paterianakis Winery. We’ll take a tour of the vineyard, learning about the different grapes and organic farming methods that are used to produce the fine red, white and roses, and then have the chance to taste five different wines. There’s time to relax and enjoy the views over the surrounding vineyards and olive trees, and of course to buy a bottle or two to take home if you wish, before we return to the hotel.
Location

There’s a small beach right in front of the hotel, but you’ll find a handful of others in the resort if you fancy a change of scenery. Day trip options include the Isle of Spinalongaand the more traditional villages in the hills behind Hersonissos.
