Grade 3: This grade is ideal for those who enjoy a variation in walking levels from easy to moderate. You’ll be walking mainly on good paths at a low altitude, with occasional more demanding ascents and descents. Walking regularly in preparation prior to the tour is recommended due to 5 to 9 miles of walking in the space of 2.5 to 4 hours per day.
Included excursions
Coastal Orientation Walk
1 / 5
This is the perfect introduction to the coastal landscapes and limestone rock formations that form the Costa Blanca. You’ll discover a series of sandy bays and secret coves as well as keeping an eye out for a variety of sea birds. After working your way up to the lighthouse at Denia, there’s no better way to complete today’s tour than with a cold glass of Estrella at one of the open-sided bars at the marina.
Orchard Valley
1 / 5
Today’s optional excursion takes you inland to the agricultural landscapes surrounding the Valencian town of Guadalest. It’s a full day spent outdoors as you cross the river and make your way around a rural hamlet before heading through olive groves and shaded pine forests. After enjoying a well-earned break to soak up the Mediterranean views and admire the precariously placed Guadalest castle, you’ll head back through sun dappled almond woods and pungent citrus orchards.
Old Pilgrimage Trail
1 / 5
It’s another full day of exploring as you follow the trailhead from the hillside hamlet of Planes and ascend to the local chapel via the old aqueduct. The views from the top provide perfect panoramas across the village and out over the reservoir. Taking up the trail from here you’ll find yourself immersed in the shade of almond groves and cherry orchards. There are also a couple of old watermills which make the perfect backdrop for a breather alongside the river. After taking in the waterside scenery, you’ll make your way back to Planes for more great views from the 11th century hilltop castle.
Circuit walk
1 / 5
In the company of your host you’ll have a choice of two circular walks today. The first leads up and around the mountain side via mule tracks and stony well-trodden paths. Gentle gradients and well-placed cairns make this an easy-going route to follow as well as promising exquisite views over the Mediterranean. The second optional walk takes you deeper into the valley as you pick up the circular trail that starts from the village of Algar. This option makes the most of Alicante’s rural landscapes with shaded woodlands and hillside orchards creating visions of Spain rarely seen by tourists on the coast.
Las Rotas to Javea
1 / 5
This final optional excursion takes you from the rocky coastline at Las Rotas to the seaside town of Javea (also known as Xàbia). It’s a wonderful way to experience Alicante as you head inland from the Cap de Sant Antoni and follow a limestone track through rock roses and into peaceful pine woods. As the walk continues, you’ll discover windmills, a monastery and a lighthouse before descending down the hillside towards the smooth sandy beaches of the Costa Blanca. After a paddle be sure to visit Javea old town that’s situated on the hillside about a 30-minute walk inland from the port.

The hotel is less than half a mile away from the golden sands of Marineta Beach. Denia Marina, with its selection of shops, eateries and boat hire, is just under a mile away. While the historic heart of Denia, just over a mile away, features narrow streets lined with lively street cafes. From here, you can walk up to the 12th-century, hilltop castle and archaeology museum. Browse the designer boutiques along the tree-lined Carrer Marques de Campo. Or find a pavement cafe in the Old Town to while away a few hours. The nearest bus stop from the hotel is 50 metres away. The drive to/from the airport takes approximately one hour and 20 minutes.
Out and about
