Food and wine on the Costa Blanca

Spanish seafood paella

Saga Hosted Hotels

Food

Ah, the Costa Blanca. Nowhere quite does food and wine like this sun-soaked region of Spain. Of course, you’ll be treated to exquisite paella [Valencia’s the undisputed home of this Spanish delicacy] but on this gastronomic journey, we’ll taste our way through idyllic coastal landscapes, lavender scattered hillsides, fragrant orange groves and swathes of vineyards. Taste sweet and savoury cocas – a delicious pastry filled with treats. Gorge on all i pebre – rich stews laden with olive oil, wild garlic and paprika. Sip ruby reds and silky whites from local wine makers. Not to be missed.

Local Area

Quintessentially Spanish, the coastal town of Denia is as authentic as it gets. The 11th-century hilltop castle is a focal point, surrounded by rainbow-coloured fishing shacks overlooking the harbour. Browse the designer boutiques along the tree-lined Carrer Marques de Campo. Find a pavement café in the Old Town to while away a few hours, or stroll to the cosmopolitan marina, where you’ll find an abundance of waterside eateries.

Included excursions

Guided tour of Denia city and traditional lunch

1/5

Work up an appetite as we take a guided tour of pretty Denia – overlooked by the fortress and citadels of its impressive castle. Behind the coastal charm of this port city lies a wealth of history dating back to the Romans and we’ll hear tales of the past, as well as explore inside the castle itself. Afterwards, it’s time to eat cocas at a local restaurant. Traditionally made in wood-fired ovens, these savoury and sweet pastries are filled with local produce – including freshly caught seafood and homemade sausages.
