Local Area
Almuñécar is a picturesque town with jagged coastlines, intoxicating culture and world-class food and drink. Take a stroll to the town centre, where markets await, brimming with spices, olives, dried fruits, and locally made honey and molasses. If you're looking for photo-worthy views of the Mediterranean, head to Nerja and take in the stunning scenery from the clifftop known as the 'Balcony of Europe'.
Optional excursions
Albaicin
Discover the Albaicín, the oldest Moorish quarter in Granada. Situated on a steep hill facing the Alhambra, this is where the Zirid Monarchs first established their court in the 11th century. Enjoy exploring the maze of historic narrow streets and seeing the ancient city gateway, visiting a small market square and a mosque converted into a church. You'll also view the gardens of Casa Morisca del Chapiz, a fine example of Mudéjar style. In the afternoon, walk through the upper parts of the Albaicín which offers dramatic views contrasted with stolen glimpses through gateways into small, picturesque gardens.
