The Almuñécar area
1 / 5
The name Alpujarra is thought to be derived from 'alba sierra' meaning white mountain. With spectacular snow-covered mountain peaks, the Alpujarra is one of the most beautiful regions of Spain. Your walk will centre on the spa town of Lanjarón and includes a gradual, lengthy ascent to reveal breathtaking views of the mountains. There will be an opportunity to view the spectacular valley at Lanjarón from the recently renovated Moorish castle walls.
Frigiliana and Cómpeta
1 / 5
Your walk starts with an early morning ascent to the highest point of Frigiliana, one of the most famous of the Andalusian ‘white villages’. This will be followed by a challenging circular walk through rolling hills, taking in a Roman bridge and the delightful villages of Cómpeta, Archez, and Canillas.
Maro and the Caves of Nerja
1 / 5
The Nerja caves are located just two miles from the centre of town and comprise a natural archaeological cave containing the world's largest known stalactite. You'll have the choice to perhaps view the caves (at your own cost) or join a 3-mile walk through cultivated fields and Maro town before the groups meet for the main walk into the National Park.
Coastal walk
1 / 5
Trace coastal paths to Salobrena, climb to the castle grounds with views over the coastal plain, and return via the beach and a hidden valley. Please note: this route is subject to change due to adverse weather conditions.
