You’ll be walking mainly on good paths at a low altitude, with occasional more demanding ascents and descents. Walking regularly in preparation prior to the tour is recommended due to 5 to 9 miles of walking in the space of 2.5 to 4 hours per day.

The Almuñécar Area (walking: four miles)

This local orientation walk takes place on the second day of your holiday, starting from your hotel. It takes in the seafront, old town, castle, Roman ruins, and botanical gardens of the nearby town of Almuñécar. The walk will last approximately two-and-a-half hours.
The Alpujarra region (walking: six-and-a-half miles)

The name Alpujarra is thought to be derived from ‘alba sierra’ meaning white mountain. With snow-covered mountain peaks, the Alpujarra is one of the most beautiful regions of Spain. Your walk centres on the spa town of Lanjarón and includes a gradual, lengthy ascent to reveal breathtaking views of the mountains. There will be an opportunity to view the valley at Lanjarón from the Moorish castle walls.
Maro and the Caves of Nerja (walking: four miles)

The Nerja caves are located just two miles from the centre of town and comprise a natural archaeological cave. You will have the choice to view the caves (at your own cost) or join a three-mile walk through cultivated fields and Maro town before the groups meet for the main walk into the National Park.

This circular trail explores the lower Cahorros of the Higuerón River. Spanning almost four miles, it winds through rocky gorges, riverbeds, and narrow paths clinging to cliff walls. With moderate difficulty and an sense of adventure, it offers splendid views. The route begins at Plaza del Ingenio and descends into a dramatic landscape shaped by water and time.
Cómpeta (walking: five miles)

This circular trail links the charming villages of Cómpeta, Árchez, and Canillas de Albaida in Málaga’s Axarquía region. Crossing rural paths and historic routes like the Ruta de los Molinos, it offers views of avocado groves, vineyards, and whitewashed houses. Highlights include a Mudejar minaret, rustic bridges, and the Chapel of St Ana. It is a moderately easy walk, ideal for discovering Andalusian heritage and nature.

The long flat promenade at the front of the hotel follows the pebble beach towards a headland, which divides and the bay and the centre of Almuñécar, which is just under one mile away.
