Local Area
The city of Nashville can be found roughly in the middle of Tennessee just a little ways north of America’s Deep South. It’s a city that’s synonymous with Country music and the Civil Rights movement and certainly worth at least a couple of nights on a self-drive tour.
Live music venues, such as the Grand Ole Opry and Ryman Auditorium, are world famous but it’s often the smaller honky tonk bars and line dancing halls that conjure up the most fun. Check out one or two of the bars on Printers Alley and your toes won’t stop tapping.
Head to Music Row in Midtown and you’ll be treated to tours around the historic recording studios and record label offices where Dolly Parton and Elvis cut their teeth. You’ll also find a whole lot of history going on within the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum as well as the Johnny Cash Museum – both of which are just off Broadway.
Alternatively, borrow a bike and explore further afield. There’s a huge network of cycle-friendly lanes that will take you right across the city. From riverside routes and expansive green parks to ridges and railroads, there’s no better way to get to know Nashville.
