Tranquil beachfront setting in Sanur, just 25 minutes from Ngurah Rai Airport.

Anyone looking to relax by the waves of the Bali Sea from the comfort of a luxe spa resort should consider a stay here. Maya Sanur has just 100 rooms and suites, all of which are situated within easy access of the beach and the carefully manicured resort gardens.

It’s a peaceful retreat for those wishing to unwind around an infinity pool or head off and explore in the nearby town of Sanur. There’s also a lengthy lagoon pool if you fancy a few laps before breakfast, as well as an expansive rooftop garden looking out to sea. Yoga and Pilates sessions are available if you’re aiming to keep active, and the Spa at Maya is out of this world for pampering treatments in a garden sanctuary setting.

When you’re in the mood for food, you’ll find Mediterranean, Japanese and Aussie-style brunches all just steps away. The Tree Bar is on hand for beachside cocktails and small plates and you can take afternoon tea by the sea every day at 4pm.

Holiday location

Maya Sanur Resort & Spa Bali map

Local Area

Bali is situated between the Indonesian islands of Java to the west and Lombok to the east. It’s a medium-sized island famed for its tropical beaches, rice terraces and verdant volcanic slopes. Hindu shrines and symbolism are everywhere, with the ancient Uluwatu Temple in the southwest and the Ulun Danu Beratan Temple on the shores of Lake Bratan, just a couple of the must-see sites.

Fly into Ngurah Rai International Airport, just south of Denpasar, the capital, and you’ll find yourself within easy access of the island’s best-loved holiday destinations. The beach resorts of Nusa Dua, Seminyak, and Kuta are all to be found on the island’s southern peninsula. Staying somewhere like Sanur Beach, just 25 minutes from the airport, is ideal for travellers looking for a convenient retreat close to traditional seaside town facilities.

Drive around 90 minutes north of Ngurah Rai and the cultural epicentre of Ubud provides the peace and happiness as well as access to Bali’s rainforest-covered uplands. The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary and the winding trails along the Campuhan Ridge are worth the trip, although hanging out in a nourishing yoga retreat can be just as rewarding.
