The Siam
Hand-Picked Hotel
Convenient, cool, and classically stylish, if you’re looking to see Bangkok from a whole new angle, check into The Siam Hotel.
Located in the heart of Bangkok, alongside the slow flowing Chao Phraya River, The Siam is an elegant oasis. Step inside and you’ll discover Art Deco designs coupled with an expansive green garden that comes complete with infinity pool, lily ponds and trickling fountains.
This is somewhere to escape the frenetic pace of the streets as you sink into spacious guest suites and make the most of the award-winning treatments at the Opium Spa. The restaurants are just as irresistible as the riverside views, with Chon Thai and the Story House creating a combination of authentic Thai dishes and contemporary western cuisine.
If you’re looking for excuses to work up an appetite, The Siam also has its own gym and training centre as well as Muay Thai, yoga and personal fitness programmes. If you’ve never been to Bangkok before, or even if you have, this is somewhere to write home or, equally, keep all to yourself.

Local Area
The Chao Phraya River ceaselessly snakes through Bangkok as it makes its way south and into the Gulf of Thailand. Splitting the capital city in two leaves numerous notable districts on both sides of the river’s banks. Teak and rice have been transported via the water for time eternal. However, these days, you’re more likely to see cruise boats, commuter ferries and longtail water taxis plying their trade between the piers and riverside temples.
One neighbourhood that finds itself on the east side of the Chao Phraya is the historic Dusit district. This is the beating heart of old Bangkok, where politics and religion collide in the shape of the Government House and the white marble walls of Buddhist temple, Wat Benchamabophit.
Staying in this part of the Thai capital is perfect for those interested in the finer things in life, such as visits to the neoclassical National Library. There are also plenty of opportunities to sample some of the side street restaurants as well as venturing into Chinatown and Nang Loeng Market. It’s the perfect place to book into a luxury riverside hotel armed with a thirst for adventure and a well-thumbed copy of your favourite book.
