Local Area
One of Europe’s UNESCO-listed spa towns, Montecatini Terme’s naturally healing thermal baths have been visited by travellers since Roman times. From here, you're ideally located to explore independently: Pisa and Florence are only an hour’s drive away, where you can marvel at the Leaning Tower and explore Renaissance art. Just 30 minutes away lies the medieval walled city of Lucca, where you can stroll along ancient walls, visit historic churches, and relax in charming piazzas. Siena, with its stunning Gothic architecture, is a 90-minute drive, while the rolling Chianti hills are just under an hour south.
For the modern visitor, Montecatini is the perfect base for exploring the cultural, scenic and gastronomic delights of Tuscany – Siena, Florence, Pisa and the Chianti Vineyards are all easily accessible in a day.
